Our editorial standards

The rules behind our research, reviews and corrections.

Last reviewed: October 2026

Who we are

We are an independent team researching cyber, technology errors and omissions, and directors and officers insurance costs. We accept no broker sponsorships or referral fees, and we do not resell leads. Our work is for readers who need a realistic budget, not a sales call.

How we build estimates

We use published rate filings, market reports, guidance published by carriers and brokers, and premiums reported by practitioners. We compare these sources and model costs as ranges, not quotes. Each estimate states its assumptions because limits, business size, security controls and policy terms can change the price substantially. Our methodology explains how those inputs affect the calculators.

How often we update

Every page is reviewed at least quarterly and dated. We check whether the figures, assumptions and coverage guidance still reflect the market. A review date records that check; a more specific updated date records changes to an individual guide.

Corrections

Readers can report an outdated figure through our contact page. Include the page, the figure and any supporting source. We review reports and update outdated figures within 14 days. Where a figure remains appropriate, we explain the assumptions behind it.

Independence

No advertiser or insurer influences any estimate. Display advertising funds the site, but buying an advertisement does not buy a place in our research or a change to a number. We do not recommend a broker in exchange for payment and do not share reader details with insurance sellers.
